My Hero Academia Roleplay: Enter U.A. as a Student

A My Hero Academia roleplay built on the manga’s actual rules: one Quirk per person, a class of twenty, and a school that can expel you before lunch.

What a My Hero Academia roleplay has to get right

U.A. is not a school in the ordinary sense. It sits on a forested hill above Musutafu, it admits students by entrance exam and by recommendation, and it hands its teachers the authority to expel anyone at any time for any reason — with the expulsion staying on the record even if the student is later re-enrolled. A roleplay set here inherits that pressure from the first scene. You are not the chosen one. You are one of twenty in a room where the teacher can remove you before lunch, and everyone at the desk next to you knows it.

The rest of the setting is unusually well documented, which is exactly what makes it playable. Quirks are called Kosei — “Individuality” — and a person normally develops one power or one set of powers and can never reach another by natural means. The wiki sorts them into Emitter, Transformation and Mutant types. Keep those three straight and every scene behaves: a Mutant has a body that cannot be switched off, a Transformation needs a switch and a price, an Emitter needs range and aim. The moment a Quirk does all three, the tension leaves the room.

Open your first day at U.A.

Start where the story starts: the entrance exam, the first homeroom, the training ground. The roleplay skill holds the class roster and the rules while you play one student.

The rules that keep a scene honest

Most hero-school roleplay drifts for one reason: the Quirk quietly does too much. These are the constraints the manga actually operates under, and they are what make a scene tense instead of invincible.

  • One Quirk, one limit — A person develops a single power or set of powers, and cannot gain another by natural means. Decide the limit before the first roll, not after the first defeat.
  • Type decides the tell — Emitter Quirks have range and aim. Transformation Quirks have a switch and a cost. Mutant Quirks are bodies that cannot be turned off — which is why they are also the ones that get stared at on the train.
  • The school has teeth — U.A. lets staff teach however they like, including expelling a student at any time for any reason. Re-enrolment is possible; the mark on the record is not reversible.
  • The licence is a gate — The provisional exam runs twice a year, in June and September, at three sites at once, with only one class per school at each site. Very few first-years attempt it.
  • Reputation is public — The Sports Festival is an annual, nationally watched event open to every department. What you do there is seen by the people who hand out internships.

Three openings you can copy

1. The entrance exam, ten minutes in.
You have one point on the board, a Quirk that hurts to use twice, and a robot between you and a stranger who has already given up. What do you spend the second use on?

2. The first homeroom.
The teacher reads the seating chart, then the expulsion clause, then asks who thinks they will still be here in April. You have one sentence to answer with.

3. The licence exam, second site.
Three hundred students from a dozen schools, one class per school, and an examiner who has watched first-years fail for nine years. Your class has not trained together yet.

Why the school is the engine, not the backdrop

The manga puts its first real crisis days into the term: the League of Villains attacks the Unforeseen Simulation Joint while the class is still learning where the fire exits are. That timing is the whole design. A class that has not trained together, a teacher who is outnumbered, and a room full of students who are legally civilians — the scene writes itself because the rules are already doing the work. Add the long ledger underneath it: six of the top ten entrance-exam scorers in that one class, two of the four students admitted by recommendation, and a school whose alumni include All Might, Endeavor and Best Jeanist. Every seat in the room is a bet someone made on a fifteen-year-old.

Real stories on Neta Studio, not summaries. They open in the browser, keep what you chose, and end differently depending on how you play them.

The attack, played rather than watched

U.S.J. Incident takes the Unforeseen Simulation Joint and hands you the room instead of the recap: who you reach first, what you tell the class, whether you wait for a teacher who may not come. Secret Faces is the other half of school life — the self you show at the gate and the one that goes home — which is the register most school scenes actually need.

The school as a machine

Twilight 6:17 runs a timetable that fights back: a town that rewinds at 6:17 every evening. Magix Origin: Dimension Shift is a magical academy RPG built on enrolment and rule, and it is the closest thing on the site to the feeling of being sorted into a class that will define you.

How to set up a scene in three moves

1

Write the Quirk as a cost

One sentence of power, one sentence of price. “Sound manipulation” is a wish; “sound manipulation, and every shout takes a minute of my hearing” is a character.

2

Pick a seat, not a rank

Choose where you sit in Class 1-A and who sits either side. The seating chart is the social map, and it decides who notices when you fail.

3

Put the rule under pressure

Open at the entrance exam, the Sports Festival or the licence exam. Each one tests a different thing: potential, publicity, and procedure.

A licence exam makes a better scene than a fight

Fights end. Procedure does not: three hundred students, one class per school, an examiner who has failed first-years for nine years. The roleplay hub runs class-based stories where the roster, the rules and your record carry forward.

Built with two skills

roleplay runs the scene and the class roster, and remembers what your character said last turn; character-sheet turns the student into a sheet — Quirk, limit, seat, and the one line the teacher wrote in the file. Every image on this page is original work. Nothing here reproduces official art, and this page is not affiliated with the rights holders.

My Hero Academia roleplay FAQ

Is this canon or fanon?
The rules are canon — U.A.’s ranking, the expulsion authority, Quirk types, the licence exam schedule all come from the manga and its wiki. The students you play are yours. No official artwork is reproduced anywhere on the page.

Can I play an existing character?
Yes. Existing cast can appear as classmates, teachers or examiners, but the page is written for an original student so that the class has something to lose when you fail.

What Quirk should I pick?
One with a price. A Quirk that costs nothing turns every scene into a power fantasy; a Quirk with a limit turns the same scene into a decision. The generator pages linked below can help you find one.

How much does it spoil?
It references the U.S.J. attack, the Sports Festival and the provisional licence exam — early-to-mid story material. Nothing from the final arcs is described.

Is this an official My Hero Academia product?
No. It is a fan-made page on Neta Studio, unaffiliated with the rights holders, and it uses original art rather than screenshots.

How long does one scene run?
A scene is as long as a conversation: open at the gate, play the homeroom, stop when the bell goes. Multi-session stories work too, because the roster and your record persist.
