Flip Book Animation — Storyboard a Motion in Your Hand
Flip book animation: one still per page, bound so the flip is the timing. Read a motion a frame at a time and reverse it by turning back.
Animate without animating
Flip book animation is the oldest form there is: draw the key stills, stack them, and let the thumb do the timing. Here the stills are made for you — one motion, one still per page — so you can hold a sequence, read it a frame at a time, and flip it back and forth until the timing is right.

Why it still works
- Timing becomes something you feel in your hand, not a number in a timeline
- Each frame can be read on its own, so blocking reads clearly
- Reversing is literally flipping the other way
- A sequence can be handed to somebody as a link
The comet on the shelf is a good place to see it: twenty-four stills, one arc.
