Genshin Impact Quiz: 12 Questions With Answers

Twelve Genshin Impact questions with sourced answers: Visions, Gnoses, the Archon War, Irminsul, Khaenri’ah, and why Celestia has been silent for 500 years.

What a Genshin quiz should actually test

The interesting facts in Genshin Impact are not character birthdays. They are the rules of the world: what a Vision is, who is allowed to hand one out, where an Archon’s authority came from before they had it, and what happened to the nation that tried to live without any of it. Those rules are consistent enough to be quizzed, and specific enough that a correct answer can be checked rather than argued about.

The twelve questions below run in that order — the system first, then the history, then the politics. They spoil through Fontaine’s Archon Quest and the cataclysm backstory, and they stop short of anything from the most recent region. Every answer is printed under its question with the detail that makes it true, so the page works as a study sheet as well as a quiz.

Stand in the world the quiz describes

A quiz about the rules is one thing; a scene where the rules apply to you is another. The roleplay skill drops you into a nation with an Archon who is not answering questions.

✦Roleplay
Use the roleplay skill to open a scene in e.g. Liyue Harbour, the night before the Rite — and a Vision you did not ask for.

Why these twelve

A quiz is a claim about what matters. These questions are built on three rules, and they are the reason the page reads more like a cosmology than a trivia list.

  • System before story — Questions 1–3 establish Visions, Gnoses and the Seven. Without them, every later answer is a name with no weight.
  • History with a date — The Archon War and the cataclysm are the two events that explain the present. Both have numbers attached: 2,000 years and 500 years.
  • One answer, sourced — Each line can be checked against the wiki entry it comes from. Where the lore is genuinely unresolved — the Gnosis’s purpose, the Heavenly Principles’ silence — the question says so.
  • Spoilers declared — The page tells you how far it goes before you begin, instead of ambushing you at question nine.

The twelve questions

1. How many nations does the Seven preside over, and what holds them together?
Seven — one per element, each with an Archon and an ideal. The Archons won their seats in the Archon War, and each seat comes with a Gnosis and a divine throne.

2. What is a Vision, and who gives one out?
A jewelled amulet that lets its bearer channel one of the seven elements. Visions are bestowed by Celestia and the Seven Archons on allogenes — people with particularly powerful desires.

3. What is a Gnosis?
The magic focus an Archon carries, which lets them resonate directly with Celestia. It is also a symbol of the Archon’s status, and its full purpose has never been explained.

4. When was the Archon War, and who started it?
It ran from roughly 6,000 to 2,000 years ago and was instigated by the Heavenly Principles as a way of selecting the Seven who would govern Teyvat on their behalf.

5. Where does an Archon’s elemental authority actually come from?
A divine throne composed of an elemental Authority stolen from the Seven Sovereigns — the dragons who held the elements before the Archons did.

6. After the Fontaine Archon Quest, how many divine thrones remain?
Six. The Hydro Archon’s throne was destroyed, and the Authority inside it returned to the Hydro Dragon Sovereign, Neuvillette.

7. What is Irminsul?
The primordial silver-white world tree of Teyvat. It grows underground, its roots reach the surface, it connects to the Ley Lines, and the Heavenly Principles modified it into a repository of information.

8. What was Khaenri’ah, and why did it fall?
A subterranean nation that was not under the purview of the Seven. It was destroyed 500 years ago by the Heavenly Principles and the Seven as punishment for its use of the Art of Khemia.

9. Who is Zhongli, really?
Morax, the Geo Archon, living as a consultant at the Wangsheng Funeral Parlor to experience the world as a mortal does.

10. Who leads the Fatui, and what are they?
The Tsaritsa and the Eleven Harbingers. The Fatui are Snezhnaya’s government, diplomatic corps and military at once, headquartered in Glupov.

11. Where is Celestia, and why does its silence matter?
It is the floating island above Teyvat, the realm of the gods and angels, controlled by the Heavenly Principles — which have been silent since the cataclysm 500 years ago.

12. What separates a Vision from a Gnosis?
Scale and origin. A Vision channels one element for a mortal; a Gnosis is an Archon’s link to Celestia. The wiki calls Visions “primitive” by comparison, and leaves the Gnosis’s wider purpose unknown.

The real subject is legitimacy

Put the answers side by side and a pattern appears: every institution in Teyvat is running on borrowed authority. The Archons rule on thrones built from power taken from the dragons. Their Gnoses connect them to a Celestia that has not spoken since the cataclysm. Visions are handed down by that same absent authority to people who never asked. And Khaenri’ah is the counter-example — a nation outside the Seven, destroyed for the technology it developed. Even Zhongli’s retirement is an administrative act: he hands in a Gnosis and goes to work at a funeral parlour. Genshin is not a story about gods being powerful. It is a story about gods being in office.

Play the parts the quiz points at

Real works on Neta Studio, each one built on the same materials: an element, an institution, and somebody who has to live under both.

Academies and pantheons

Magix Origin: Dimension Shift is a magical-academy RPG where the element you choose changes who will teach you, which is the Vision system with a timetable. Infernal runs the pantheon as politics: seven demon lords, seven different prices, one ritual.

Cities where the divine is local

Coffee Talk — Midnight Brew sets its supernatural in a late-night café, and Kamisama Kiss — Fox Shrine hands a teenager a shrine and a god who does not want the job — the domestic end of the Archon idea. Curse-Road handles the fallen-civilisation register that Khaenri’ah occupies.

How to run it as a round

1

Play the system first

Questions 1–3 are the rules. Get those right and the rest of the quiz becomes a history lesson rather than a memory test.

2

Read the uncomfortable clause

Each answer ends with the part that complicates it — stolen authority, an unknown purpose, a silence. That clause is the conversation.

3

Finish on the Vision

Close with question twelve. The gap between a mortal’s amulet and an Archon’s focus is the whole game in one comparison.

Knowing the rules is not the same as living under them

Twelve correct answers is a good score. It is not the same as standing in a harbour when the Archon does not answer. The roleplay hub runs fantasy stories where the pantheon has opinions and the paperwork has teeth.

Built with the roleplay skill

roleplay runs the scene and keeps the nation’s rules consistent between turns; world-builder holds the map, the factions and the calendar the scene depends on. All images here are original work — no official art is reproduced, and this page is unaffiliated with the rights holders.

Genshin Impact quiz FAQ

Are the answers sourced?
Yes — every answer is stated in the game and recorded on the Genshin wiki, including the ones about stolen elemental Authority and the destruction of the Hydro Archon’s throne.

How much does it spoil?
Through Fontaine’s Archon Quest and the cataclysm backstory: the throne count, Neuvillette’s Authority, and Khaenri’ah’s destruction are all discussed.

Is there a “strongest Archon” question?
No. That is a fan argument with several defensible answers. This quiz only asks things with one checkable answer.

Why include Khaenri’ah in a quiz about Archons?
Because it is the exception that defines the rule: a nation outside the Seven, destroyed for its technology. Without it, the Seven look like scenery rather than a system.

Is this an official Genshin page?
No. It is a fan-made page on Neta Studio, unaffiliated with the rights holders, illustrated with original art rather than game screenshots.

Can I use this for a group quiz night?
Yes. Questions 1–3 are the warm-up, 4–8 the history round, 9–12 the politics round. Three rounds of four works better than twelve in a row.
