Baek Yoonho: Solo Leveling’s White Tiger Guild Master

Baek Yoonho of Solo Leveling: S-Rank hunter, White Tiger Guild master, tiger transformation, the Red Gate, Jeju Island, and the quote that sums him up.

Who Baek Yoonho is
Baek Yoonho is an S-Rank Hunter and the Guild Master of the White Tiger Guild in Solo Leveling. He founded it: he began in the Fiend Guild, then left with a group of its members and built his own. That origin explains almost everything about him — he is loyal to people rather than institutions, and he takes it personally when one of his own does not come back.
In a story that spends most of its time on one man’s ascent, Baek is the competent adult in the room. He is not the strongest; the wiki is unusually frank that he is mediocre for an S-Rank and possibly one of the weakest in the world. What he has instead is judgement. He is the first person to work out that Sung Jinwoo has no ceiling, and the one who says it out loud, in a line that has become the character’s signature: “I always believed that a single hero couldn’t end a war by himself. But after recent events, I’m starting to think that maybe I was wrong.”

Run a raid with him
The roleplay skill plays Baek as a guild master first and a fighter second: he asks who is still inside, he counts the people who came back, and he does not accept a convenient answer.
The look, and what changes when he fights
Out of combat he reads as a man in a good suit: muscular, spiky orange hair, orange eyes, pronounced canine teeth, neatly trimmed sideburns, usually a black tux. On the Jeju Island raid the register changes — black armour with yellow shoulder guards, grey trousers, and a set of golden claws. When his ability engages, the design does something clever: his eyes glow yellow, his hair turns white, and his pupils narrow to slits. He is a tiger wearing a man’s clothes, and the animation of that shift is the character’s whole visual thesis.
- Partial transformation — He can transform only the parts he needs — hands and hair, say — which is what he does while sparring with Kumamoto.
- The Eyes of the Beast — An enlightened state that measures a monster’s or hunter’s power and sharpens his reflexes. It is how he recognises what Jinwoo is.
- Full transformation — White fur, white hair, claws and fangs. It buffs his strength enough, per the wiki, that he could overpower Ma Dongwook one-on-one.
- The gauntlet — BAEKGU — gauntlets made by Suho from his shadows. A small detail that ties him into Ragnarok.
| Rank | S-Rank Hunter — though Hanekawa calls him mediocre for the grade, and the wiki notes he may be among the weakest S-Ranks in the world. |
| Guild | Guild Master of the White Tiger Guild, which he founded after leaving the Fiend Guild with some of its members. |
| Ability | Partial or full transformation into a white-furred tiger humanoid, plus the Eyes of the Beast: an enlightened state that reads a target’s power level and sharpens his reflexes. |
| Epilogue | He becomes a firefighter — which, read backwards, explains a great deal about how he behaves during raids. |
The Red Gate, and the question he cannot let go
The Red Gate Incident is the centre of his story. His guild’s raid party went into a dungeon that mutated mid-raid, and only three of his members survived. Baek’s response is not grief in a vacuum: he tries to force an explanation out of Jinwoo about why the number was three. The wiki notes the earlier version of the same instinct — he nearly fought Hwang Dongsoo when the man strangled one of his employees. Everything about the character is that reflex, and the drama is that the reflex keeps costing him: he cannot protect everyone, and he will not stop asking who is responsible.

Stories with the same job description
Baek’s scenes are mostly briefings, debriefs and rescues — the unglamorous half of a hunter’s life. These six are built out of that same material.

Team in, team out
O.S.F; Dead Road is a corridor that closes behind the party, which is the Red Gate in one image. White Elm Sanatorium: Room 17 makes a rescue a room-by-room negotiation instead of a fight, which is closer to an S-Rank’s real work than any boss battle. Master of Snow is a master running a household that depends on him — the guild-master problem in a different costume.
Politics, interrogations, and who gets saved
Night Over the Isles gives you a city with a hierarchy and a monster problem, where the argument is always about who is saved first. Casefile: You is the scene Baek keeps having with Jinwoo: someone asking questions while being the one under pressure. Echoes of Linkon puts civilians inside a sealed district and a clock on the rescue, which is the Jeju Island operation without the ants.
Three scenes to open him with
The debrief
Three survivors, one table, and a guild master who has read the report and does not believe it. Start with what he puts down on the table.
The spar
A training bout against someone stronger than the rank suggests. He transforms one hand, keeps the other in his pocket, and talks the whole time.
The epilogue shift
Years later, a firefighter walks into a building everyone else has left. Same man, no rank, no guild — decide what he says to the person he carries out.
Six stories to read first

Step into a raid, or pick another hunter
The roleplay hub opens a scene with him in the browser, with continuity between sessions. The explore shelf has the rest of the catalogue if you want a different kind of pressure.
Built with the roleplay skill
roleplay keeps him in the register the canon gives him — a manager who happens to be able to turn into a tiger — and remembers the names of the people who did not come back. character-sheet is the companion call: one reference for the suit, the canines and the transformation, so the man in the operations room and the thing on the Jeju shoreline are visibly the same character.
FAQ
How strong is Baek Yoonho?
He is an S-Rank Hunter, but the wiki is explicit that he is mediocre for the grade — Hanekawa says so, and he may be one of the weakest S-Ranks in the world. His value is judgement and leadership rather than raw output.
What is his ability?
He transforms into a white-furred tiger humanoid, partially or fully, and uses the Eyes of the Beast — an enlightened state that measures a target’s power and sharpens his reflexes.
What happened at the Red Gate?
His guild’s raid party entered a dungeon that mutated, and only three of his members survived. He later tries to force an explanation out of Sung Jinwoo about why.
Which guild does he lead?
The White Tiger Guild, which he founded after leaving the Fiend Guild with a group of its members.
Why do people quote him about “a single hero”?
Because it is the line where he admits Jinwoo has changed his model of the world: he always believed one hero could not end a war alone, and after recent events he is starting to think he was wrong.
What does he do after the story?
The epilogue shows his occupation as a firefighter. In Solo Leveling: Ragnarok and the revised timeline he is a father and husband who prioritises saving civilians over catching criminals.
